Virtual Dedicated Servers – Dedicated RAM & CPU With Quick Provisioning

Shortly after launching our first US Location, we have more news: We are introducing Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS)! Powerful instances with quick provisioning were the #1 feature request from our customers. In Contabo we believe that “Customer is King” so we are happy to be able to fulfill this need. It’s a perfect combination of dedicated physical CPU cores and quick provisioning.

The Power Of A Dedicated Server Provisioned As Quickly As A VPS

With a Virtual Dedicated Server, you get dedicated computing power in the form of dedicated physical CPU cores, which aren’t shared with anyone else, thus there are no noisy neighbors and no one can impact even the most demanding workflow. Additionally, quick provisioning makes these powerful instances available within minutes not days.

Memory Optimized

Furthermore, our new VDS series, has been specifically optimized for memory intensive applications such as databases. The 1:8 CPU core to RAM ratio and 100% NVMe SSD storage ensures high performance for all the applications you run on your VDS.

Best-in-class CPU

When choosing a CPU for Virtual Dedicated Servers we wanted to offer as much computing power as possible for as little as possible. That’s why we have chosen AMD EPYC 7282 CPU. This CPU has a base price of $1300 for 32 cores, which is around $40 per core. If we look at comparable Intel CPU, with similar price per core, the closest match is Intel Bronze 2P 3206R with price per core at around $38. Now if you compare the performance of these CPUs using the widely accepted SPECrate 2017_fp_base benchmark you will learn that AMD EPYC 7282 gives 33%+ more computing power per core at the same price. That’s why we have decided to use this CPU.

Prices and Plans

Virtual Dedicated Servers start at €36.99 / month and for that you will get 3 dedicated physical cores and 24 GB of RAM with a 180 GB NVMe SSD! But that’s just our smallest model, the VDS S, and you know us, right? Of course, we do not stop there. Instead, we climb the size-ladder up to the VDS XL, which is by all means a beast of a server!

Nested Virtualization

With our new VDS, you can host your own virtual machines. We know that lack of this possibility for VPS has been a concern for many of you, so we have configured Virtual Dedicated Servers in a way that enables nested virtualization!

Dedicated Bandwidth

It’s not only CPU cores and RAM which can be dedicated. You can also order dedicated bandwidth for each of your Virtual Dedicated Servers.

Additional Storage

Should you need more space on your VDS, you can order up to 2 additional disks with up to 4 TB space each!

Equipped with 100% NVMe SSDs, dedicated physical cores and a sizable amount of RAM our Virtual Dedicated Servers are instantly available for heavy lifting without “breaking a sweat”. Here’s the full Virtual Dedicated Server product line presentation.

Comments
  • Great job guys! The transition to AMD is a smart step as well; their CPUs are much powerful.

  • Thank you for launching the VDS, you are provding great and highly reliable services on the cheapest prices.

  • VPS Contabo excelente servicio, me agradaría que existiera apoyo por medio sistema de #Id tickets y evolución de estados para gestión de soporte a usuarios

  • Oh Thank You Thank You Thank You for bringing AMD Epyc lineup – to Dedicated please as well 🙂

  • That’s music!
My first order is coming soon ;-).

Is there already an release date for the new Backup feature around?

  • The new VDS is a good offer, interesting for customers, but unfortunately it is limited to only 64GB of RAM and 8 processors. We expect you to give more opportunity in some XXL variant, with 128GB of RAM and 16 physical processors for more demanding customers and to be competitive Hetzner, for example

  • Hello Urs,
Great to hear that you like it 🙂
No release dates can be confirmed as of now, but stay tuned! We will announce updates via Social Media for sure.

    Best,
    Markus

  • The price per performance you’re giving here is undoubtedly one of the best in the industry. The equivalent of this anywhere else would be an extra $100 EASILY. Thank you for putting as much effort as you do into lowering prices

  • Thanks for having this article, it helps a lot. It’s a well-written blog and it is very informative. Keep on blogging, looking forward to see more of your posts!
