How the RTX PRO 6000 Measures Up

FP32 measures single-precision compute, the throughput most GPU-accelerated solvers are bound by. More TFLOPS means faster CFD, molecular dynamics and FEM runs. At 120 TFLOPS the RTX PRO 6000 Server Edition leads every data center and professional GPU compared here.

Scientific Computing Use Cases for GPU VPS

Three single-node workloads this card handles well.
icon-ram_f_alt
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Research

96 GB keeps finer meshes resident on the card, avoiding the domain decomposition a smaller GPU would force.

icon-science_f_alt
Molecular Dynamics (GROMACS) Analysis

GROMACS runs well on a single accelerator, and trajectory work benefits from a card that runs for days uninterrupted.

icon-gear_f_alt
Finite Element Method (FEM) Simulations

CUDA-backed FEM solvers offload assembly and solve stages to the GPU. Large VRAM allows for finer discretization.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions about our GPU VPS
What is a GPU VPS?

A GPU VPS is a Virtual Private Server with a dedicated NVIDIA GPU attached via PCI passthrough. Unlike shared GPU instances, the full GPU, including VRAM, CUDA cores, and memory bandwidth, is reserved for your workload alone.

Which GPU does Contabo GPU VPS use?

Every GPU VPS runs the NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition, with 96 GB of GDDR7 ECC VRAM, 24,064 CUDA cores, 120 TFLOPS of FP32 compute, and 1,597 GB/s of memory bandwidth.

Is the GPU dedicated, or shared?

Dedicated. The full RTX PRO 6000 is passed through to your VPS, so a run holds a steady speed with no scheduler or other tenant competing for it.

What is HPC cloud computing?

HPC cloud computing means renting high-performance compute rather than buying and housing it. It covers multi-node clusters down to a single dedicated GPU, which is what a GPU VPS provides.

How is a GPU VPS different from traditional HPC cloud?

Traditional HPC cloud sells scheduled access to shared clusters, priced by core-hour and built for many-node jobs. For work that fits on one card, that scheduling and queueing is overhead with no return. A GPU VPS gives you immediate dedicated access, a fixed monthly cost and full control of the software stack, in exchange for single-node scale.

Is a single GPU VPS enough for CFD or molecular dynamics simulations?

Yes, for a great deal of published work. Many CFD and molecular dynamics problems run on one GPU, and 96 GB holds substantial meshes and system sizes. When a problem fits, there is nothing to configure: no MPI, no interconnect to tune, no partition to queue for. Runs that need multiple nodes in parallel are a different job, so it's worth checking which case yours is before ordering.

Does Contabo GPU VPS support multi-node HPC clusters?

Each GPU VPS is one dedicated node with a full RTX PRO 6000 and 96 GB of VRAM, which runs CFD, molecular dynamics and FEM work that fits on a single GPU. For simulations that need multiple GPUs or nodes, our sister company vshosting offers dedicated multi-GPU and multi-node servers, including H200 HGX and InfiniBand-connected B300 systems.

Is CUDA pre-installed for scientific computing?

Yes. Drivers and the CUDA toolkit ship with the Ubuntu 24.04 image, so accelerated code compiles without extra driver work.

What operating systems are supported?

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with CUDA pre-installed is the only supported image for GPU VPS in the order process. Windows can be installed later using the Customer Control Panel if desired - in this case, you will need to configure CUDA yourself.

Where are GPU VPS data centers located?

Europe and US Central are the only available regions at launch. Starting in two locations is a deliberate first step. GPU capacity is harder to plan than standard VPS, so we are keeping the launch focused to protect availability and performance, with more regions planned.
