Please connect to your server using RDP. By selecting the option \u201eCheck for updates\u201c, an immediate search for updates will be started<\/p>\n<p>4.1. If you choose the option \u201eCheck for updates\u201c, Windows will automatically check whether there are updates which need to be installed on your server. If you click on the dropdown field \u201eInstall updates automatically (recommended)\u201c these options will appear:<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/contabo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Windows-Updates-5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3567\" src=\"https:\/\/contabo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Windows-Updates-5-300x72.png\" alt=\"Windows Updates 5\" width=\"300\" height=\"72\" srcset=\"https:\/\/contabo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Windows-Updates-5-300x72.png 300w, https:\/\/contabo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Windows-Updates-5.png 561w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">In general, it is always recommended to install updates automatically (first option), since the security of your server could be endangered if you do not keep the Windows version updated. If you want to select the updates manually, you need to choose the option \u201eDownload updates but let me choose whether to install them\u201c. A similar option will be \u201eCheck for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them\u201c, where you will have an overview of available updates and you can choose then if you want to download and install them\u201c. On the other hand \u201eNever check for updates (not recommended)\u201c is not recommended, since this could be dangerous for the security of your system if you do not keep it updated.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">4.3. By clicking the link \u201eUpdates will be automatically installed during the maintenance windows.\u201c, you will be able to choose a time when you want to perform the maintenance. In the checkbox below the field where you can insert the time, you will have the option &#8220;Allow scheduled maintenance to wake up my computer at the scheduled time&#8221;. If you leave this box selected, your server will be started automatically in order to perform the maintenance\/update. If you uncheck the box, the update will be performed as soon as you start the server yourself.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/contabo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Maintenance.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3609\" src=\"https:\/\/contabo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Maintenance-300x76.png\" alt=\"Maintenance\" width=\"300\" height=\"76\" srcset=\"https:\/\/contabo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Maintenance-300x76.png 300w, https:\/\/contabo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Maintenance-1024x261.png 1024w, https:\/\/contabo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Maintenance-768x196.png 768w, https:\/\/contabo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Maintenance.png 1193w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">4.4. With the options \u201eRecommended updates\u201c and \u201eMicrosoft Update\u201c you will additionally have the possibility to get informed about any updates.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">5. You will be forwarded to a list with installed updates and you can uninstall the updates.<\/p>\n<p>If you ever experienced issues with updates, kindly choose the option \u201eTroubleshoot problems with installing updates\u201c. It will be automatically checked whether there are issues related to updates.<\/p>\n<p>6.
